太濁則志下，
以下聽濁則耳不收，
不收則不摶，
不摶則怒。
故太鉅、太小、太清、太濁皆非適也。
何謂適？
衷、音之適也。
何謂衷？
大不出鈞，
重不過石，
小大輕重之衷也。
黃鐘之宮，
音之本也，
清濁之衷也。
衷也者適也，
以適聽適則和矣。
樂無太，
平和者是也。
故治世之音安以樂，
其政平也；
亂世之音怨以怒，
其政乖也；
亡國之音悲以哀，
其政險也。
凡音樂通乎政，
而移風乎俗者也，
俗定而音樂化之矣。
故有道之世，
