Old Chinese Criteria
1. The closest term in classical Chinese for a theory is shuō 說 which can refer to a fixed explicit and explanatory intellectual position without implying systematicity or elaborate argumentation. 2. Lùn 論 came to be used for the definitive content of an intellectual position without so much of a focus on the its articulation or explicitation.
